About

I have been the Senior Pastor of Oxford Community Church since 2005. Over the years, I have had the privilege of seeing the church grow in its vision for serving Oxford and beyond, including through pioneering initiatives in education and housing.

I am a Co-President of Churches Together in Oxfordshire, and I also chair the Steering Group for Love Oxford, which seeks to bring the churches of the city together in friendship and prayer, and to find practical ways of responding to the needs of our city.

For nearly ten years, I led a regional church network, where I discovered a particular passion for identifying, training and encouraging leaders. I now continue to train and mentor church leaders, as well as people serving in many different sectors of society. I especially enjoy exploring what can happen when the faith community and public life engage with one another and discover new ways to work together for the good of our communities.

I have degrees in science and theology, and I am fascinated by the ways innovation and spirituality can come together to help change the world for the better. My own D.Phil research was in animal behaviour, which has sometimes proven surprisingly useful in understanding people too!

As the saying goes, “No man is an island.” My life and ministry have been shaped by many people and communities along the way — family and friends, pastors and coaches, colleagues and collaborators, as well as the organisations I have founded or had the privilege of serving.
