MADE FOR MORE
Developing and delivering a Christan vision to change the world
Over recent decades, God has been stirring fresh patterns of ministry in the Western church, as believers from many traditions work together to build a hopeful future. Shaped by love and a passion for God’s glory, new confidence is emerging for meaningful gospel influence across every sphere of society.
This book offers the theological foundation for that movement, enriched by historical and contemporary stories. It also explores matters of the heart, before offering practical steps for overcoming the sacred-secular divide and then inviting readers to take their place in this encouraging and timely development.
REVEALING JESUS
Living as God’s People in Today’s World
The world can be a challenging place for Christians to live out their faith, but by the grace of God, we will not only survive here but thrive here. He promises to bless us so that we will not only cope with the world around us, but see it transformed.
Britain’s greatest need is not for more money nor a more stable government. Neither is it for church programmes and activities. The people of Britain do not need us. They need Jesus.
God has a plan for introducing himself to this nation. It is to encourage and empower the church really to live like Jesus, and so to show people what God is like.
ROOTS & SHOOTS SERIES
Living in the World
This was my first attempt at writing about Jesus’ saying that his followers would be “in the world, but not of the world” (John 17:14-16). It includes:
a survey of Niebuhr’s five types (Christ against Culture, Christ of Culture, Christ above Culture, Christ and Culture in Paradox, and Christ the Transformer of Culture)
a pastoral discussion of 1 Corinthians 8-10, where Paul explains the believer’s freedom to engage with all manner of things in the world, only to be careful of “the weaker brother”
